Chapter 2, research report 2.1

A test of the validity of Lewin’s three-step model

The Ford and Greer (2006) article is fairly recent, so you might not  be able to find anything more recent than this article. This is not  important. The point of the exercise is to find another article dealing  with efforts to validate Lewin’s work. If that is not possible, find  another article dealing with change that references Lewin and possibly  Ford and Greer (together or either of them in their past research; not  necessary to have both of them cited).

To that end it may be helpful to:

  1. Use the library databases to search on “Lewin” and “change model” to  find related articles. Unfortunately, our library does not have  full-text access to the Ford and Greer (2006) article cited in the text.  An alternate strategy would be to search for articles citing Ford and  Greer (2006) and see if we have access to those.
  2. Use Research report 2.1 to generate search terms. “Freezing”,  “unfreezing”, and “refreezing” are possible choices. The theory and  methods sections also have useful phrases that can be used for a  literature search.
  3. You do not want to merely summarize the article. You want to  indicate whether the article you found is consistent or inconsistent  with the Ford and Greer (2006) findings, and Lewin’s theory. Then you  want to discuss what these results, as a whole (both articles together),  mean to managers in terms of being able to plan and conduct a change  effort.

Discussion: assessing the ears, nose, and throat | NURS 6512 – Advanced Health Assessment and Diagnostic Reasoning | Walden University

Discussion: Assessing the Ears, Nose, and Throat

Most ear, nose, and throat conditions that arise in non-critical care settings are minor in nature. However, subtle symptoms can sometimes escalate into life-threatening conditions that require prompt assessment and treatment. Nurses conducting assessments of the ears, nose, and throat must be able to identify the small differences between life-threatening conditions and benign ones. For instance, if a patient with a sore throat and a runny nose also has inflamed lymph nodes, the inflammation is probably due to the pathogen causing the sore throat rather than a case of throat cancer. With this knowledge and a sufficient patient health history, a nurse would not need to escalate the assessment to a biopsy or an MRI of the lymph nodes, but would probably perform a simple strep test.

In this Discussion, you consider case studies of abnormal findings from patients in a clinical setting. You determine what history should be collected from the patients, what physical exams and diagnostic tests should be conducted, and formulate a differential diagnosis with several possible conditions.

Note: By Day 1 of this week, your Instructor will have assigned you to one of the following specific case studies for this Discussion. Also, your Discussion post should be in the Episodic/Focused SOAP Note format, (see soap file) rather than the traditional narrative style Discussion posting format. Refer to Chapter 2 of the Sullivan text and the Episodic/Focused SOAP Template in the Week 5 Learning Resources for guidance. Remember that all Episodic/Focused SOAP notes have specific data included in every patient case.

Case 2: Focused Throat Exam
Lily is a 20-year-old student at the local community college. When some of her friends and classmates told her about an outbreak of flu-like symptoms sweeping her campus over the past two weeks, Lily figured she shouldn’t take her three-day sore throat lightly. Your clinic has treated a few cases similar to Lily’s. All the patients reported decreased appetite, headaches, and pain with swallowing. As Lily recounts these symptoms to you, you notice that she has a runny nose and a slight hoarseness in her voice but doesn’t sound congested.

To prepare:

With regard to the case study you were assigned:

· Review this week’s Learning Resources and consider the insights they provide.

· Consider what history would be necessary to collect from the patient.

· Consider what physical exams and diagnostic tests would be appropriate to gather more information about the patient’s condition. How would the results be used to make a diagnosis?

· Identify at least 5 possible conditions that may be considered in a differential diagnosis for the patient.

Write:

an episodic/focused note about the patient in the case study to which you were assigned using the episodic/focused note template provided in week 5 resources. Provide evidence from the literature to support diagnostic tests that would be appropriate for each case.

List five different possible conditions for the patient’s differential diagnosis and justify why you selected each.

Parametric and nonparametric analyses | Economics homework help

Part 1

A principal wants to determine if a new ACT preparation program is effective. The data are contained in the schools.sav data file. Open the schools.sav file in SPSS. Use SPSS to determine whether a significant improvement existed between student performance on ACT tests in 1993 (act93) and ACT tests in 1994 (act94). Assume that the same students were involved in 1993 and 1994 testing. (This requires a t-test. Review Chapter 10 of the Green & Salkind text for information on paired t-tests and reporting APA results interpretation and writing.)

Create a report that answers the principal’s question. Write these conclusions in formal APA results format. Include your SPSS output to support your conclusion.

Part 2

A pharmaceutical company wants to determine whether there is a need for a new medication based on the data in the electric.sav file. Specifically, they want to determine whether a person is alive or dead 10 years after a coronary incident and whether that is reflected in a significant difference in the patients’ cholesterol levels (chol58) taken when the event occurred. Use chol58 as a dependent variable and VITAL10 as your independent variable. Complete the following:

  • Analyze these conditions to determine whether there is a significant difference between the cholesterol levels (vital10) of those who are alive 10 years later compared to those who died within 10 years.
  • Include the SPSS output, which validates your conclusion.
  • Write a brief paragraph describing your conclusions.

Refer to Unit 6 in the Green & Salkind text for specific information about SPSS tests and APA results interpretation and writing. Pay attention to the Levene’s test throughout for determining whether the assumption of equal variance was met when you make your final decisions about the analysis.

What conclusion did you reach? Write these conclusions in formal APA results format. Include your SPSS output to support that conclusion.

Part 3

Occasionally, you have 1 independent variable that has 3 or more levels or groups. For a parametric data set, an analysis of variance (ANOVA) is the proper calculation. Use an ANOVA to address the following scenario:

A financial planner is interested in understanding the relationship between the dependent variable of the income level of respondents (rincdol) and the independent variable of their education level (ndegree) from the gss.sav data file. Use SPSS to complete the following:

  • Run an ANOVA to determine the overall conclusion.
  • Use the Bonferroni correction as a post-hoc analysis to determine the relationship of specific levels of degree level to income.
  • Explain the overall conclusions based on the analysis, and describe the relationship(s) between the levels of the degree earned and income.
  • Write your conclusion of the findings based upon the output using proper APA formatting.

Congress and the presidency: an unequal relationship?

Congress and the Presidency: An Unequal Relationship?
The tyranny of the legislature is really the danger most to be feared, and will continue to be so for many years to come. The tyranny of the executive power will come in its turn, but at a more distant period.” – Thomas Jefferson

In 1783 American colonists, defying incredible odds, had just beaten the United Kingdom, western hemisphere’s preeminent power, in the American War for Independence. (NPS.gov, n.d.) Now, these thirteen colonies, saddled with a new governmental charter, the onerous Articles of Confederation, sought to chart their own, independent path. (Gilderlehrman, n.d.) As a result, in 1787 disgruntled colonists sent delegates to Philadelphia in order to revise the dysfunctional Articles of Confederation. Yet, in a radical departure, most delegates decided not to amend the current constitution, but instead to craft a new Constitution. (OConnor & Sabato, 2019)

During the four month Constitutional Convention the delegates readily agreed upon James Madison’s basic premise of a new, United States government delineated along three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. That said, most delegates envisioned a strong legislative body and a weak executive office. (Maier, 2011)

Today, many historians and political scientists argue that the institution of the presidency has dramatically increased in power since the end of WWII at the expense of Congress.

This notion of a modern, expansive presidential power, stands in steadied contrast to Congress’ Constitutional ability to “check” the executive branch.

The U.S Congress has three, broad powers that, as per the founding fathers, act as a “check” against the executive branch:

  • Lawmaking Power. Only Congress can propose and pass legislation.
  • Budgetary Power. Only Congress has the authority to pass and fund the federal budget. Whereas the president request monies for the federal bureaucracies, Congress actually controls the purse strings.
  • Oversight Power. As per Whitehouse.gov, “Oversight of the executive branch is an important Congressional check on the President’s power and a balance against his discretion in implementing laws and making regulations. A major way that Congress conducts oversight is through hearings. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs are both devoted to overseeing and reforming government operations, and each committee conducts oversight in its policy area.” (Whitehouse, 2019)

So, is there an imbalance of power between the legislative and executive branches? If so, who has the upper hand? Inquiring minds want to know!

Directions: Using the following outline template and requirements, craft a full sentence, two page outline that analyzes the legislative and executive branches. Lumen’s Principles of Public Speaking has an excellent example of a full sentence outline. Please include the following:

  • As per the U.S. Constitution, how does the legislative branch act as a check against the executive branch?
    • Support your answer with information obtained from the text, supplemental academic research, and the U.S. Constitution.
  • As per the U.S. Constitution, how does the executive branch act as a check against the legislative branch?
    • Support your answer with information obtained from the text, supplemental academic research, and the U.S. Constitution.
  • Explain how either the executive or legislative branch wields more power at the expense of the other branch.
    • Support your answer with at least two Congressional legislation and/or executive orders.
    • Why does this example interest you?
    • Why is this example important to you?

Your full sentence outline should also meet the following requirements:

  • APA format.
    • Title page.
    • Reference page.
    • APA citations.
    • Double spaced sentences.
    • 12-point Times New Roman font.
  • Standard English grammar conventions.
    • Correct grammar.
    • Correct punctuation and spelling.
    • Logical, well ordered sentences.

elder interview assignment | Nursing homework help

THIS ASSIGNMENT IS DUE AT 2359 TONIGHT. PLEASE NOTE THAT. ONLY 3 PAGES REQUIRED

For this assignment, you will need to decide on at least 10 questions to ask a living elder (refer to your book for the correct age of an elder) in an interview. You then need to craft their answers into a paper that tells their story (see the assignment guidelines below for more details).

Attached are two documents that offer guidance for you: you can use the questions document to get ideas for what questions you want to ask (feel free to create questions of your own and to ask more than 10), and the sample interview assignment will give you an idea of how to craft a story from the answers and how to format your document. Note: There are instructions on the sample interview explaining how to use the document as template for formatting your own interview, just follow the steps explicitly and make sure all of your content is original.

Guidelines for assignment:

  • Must ask at least 10 questions (and address all 10 in the paper).
  • Reference your book that supports ideas, theories, answers etc., related to the older adult.
  • Must format them as a story (not just question and answer) and use specific examples to create a narrative.
  • Must reflect on what you have learned from the interview and how it applies to what you are learning in the course.
  • Must be a word document that is free of grammar and spelling errors
  • You should use APA format for this paper, including a separate title page with running header.
  • Include the list of your 10 interview questions on a separate page at the end of you paper (before your reference page).

Save your document with the file name lastname_interview.doc (or .docx). Upload your document into this drop box by the date listed on the course schedule in the syllabus to receive credit. This assignment is worth 40 points.

Make sure that your document meets all of the requirements for form and content (don’t forget to use the rubric to check that you are meeting these requirements).

How to upload your document into the Dropbox

  • Click on Browse My Computer
  • Find your document in your files and click on it
  • Click Open
  • Click Submit button

Here are some sample questions

Possible Questions for Interview

Below are a few questions you might ask in your interview with an elder. You will need to ask at least 10 questions, so you will have to come up with some other questions on your own. However, these should help you start thinking about appropriate types of questions for the interview.

§ What are some of the most important lessons you feel you have learned over the course of your life?

§ Some people say that they have had difficult or stressful experiences but they have learned important lessons from them. Is that true for you? Can you give some examples of what you learned?

§ As you look back over your life, do you see any “turning points”; that is, a key event or experience that changed over the course of your life or set you on a different track?

§ What’s the secret to a happy marriage?

§ What are some of the important choices or decisions you made that you have learned from?

§ What would you say you know now about living a happy and successful life that you didn’t know when you were twenty?

Stakeholder engagement in policy development: observations and

Stakeholder Engagement in Policy Development: Observations and Lessons from International Experience

Stakeholder engagement is a crucial concept in policy development –it usually determines the success of any policy development endeavor. Globally, it is becoming a widespread practice, especially in multicultural environments. The most obvious advantage of engaging stakeholders is the expertise that comes on board. By involving different players, the policy development process can take advantage of the skills and experiences of different players. The outcome would be policies that reflect the needs and concerns of those affected more comprehensively. Nevertheless, one must take caution to involve only relevant stakeholders.

It is also important to involve stakeholders for its own sake –that is, to create the impression that everyone is part of the process. It is common for stakeholders to disregard the merit of a policy, thereby rejecting it simply because they were not involved in the process (Burnes, 2015). Such participants can become stumbling blocks during the implementation phase of the policy development life cycle. As such, policy planners should consider involving them to minimize risks of rejection.

Although stakeholder engagement in policy development is a recommended approach, there are issues that participants must beware of. One of these challenges is the difficulty in reaching decisions. Typically, reaching an agreement becomes harder as the number of stakeholders increases. On the converse, it is easier to reach a final decision if there are only a few decision-makers involved. A high number of contributors can also affect the quality of the decision reached (Andriof & Waddock, 2017). Therefore, conveners of policy development agenda must ensure that all stakeholders invited to contribute have a specific role.

Other than due to slowed decision-making, why would one discourage stakeholder engagement in policy development?

Spss biostats project & narrative powerpoint

Due 8/9/19 12 p.m EST

Be on time & Original work

Please read directions carefully before you ask for work

Follow Template & Guide is a MUST!

Obtain own data & create your own research question.

In previous weeks of this course, you began thinking about and planning for your Final Project. By now, you should have selected a research question that interests you, identified the dataset that you will use to answer that question, and chosen a statistical test to analyze that data.

Now it is time to move from the planning stages into the execution stage of your Final Project.. As you work on your Final Project, keep these guidelines in mind:

1. Present your research question clearly.

2. Explain why you selected your dataset and the statistical test you applied to that dataset.

3. Detail whether your test has statistical power or not.

4. Use one of the statistical tests covered in this course. (Multiple Regression,Logistic Regression,One Way Anova,Multiple way Anova,ANCOVA,)

5. Visually display your results, in APA format.

6. Detail how your findings might impact social change.

7. Ensure that your Final Project is 7 pages in length, in APA format.

5 minute Narrative video

Post a 5- minute video, using  a narrated PowerPoint presentation in which you present the results of your Final Project for a lay statistical audience.

Annotated bibliography – iot in smart homes and smart devices

The paper must be in a correct APA format, use correct grammar, and will need to include at least five (5) resources, ALL of which must:

IoT in Smart Homes and Smart Devices

1) Be current. Published within the last few years.

2) Be peer-reviewed.

3) Relate directly to defense in depth in the context of protecting National Infrastructure.

Do not go skimpy on these annotations, but DO NOT write too much here. Quality is far more critical than quantity.

The resources you choose must be peer-reviewed. That means the paper must have undergone a formal peer review before being published in a journal or presented at a conference. You must ensure that your resources have undergone rigorous reviews.Do not merely assume that a resource is peer-reviewed – check it out.
