Ethics is the branch of knowledge that deals with moral principles.The three schools are virtue ethics, consequentialist ethics, and deontological or duty-based ethics. Each approach provides a different way to understand ethics. Ethics is a system of principles that helps us tell right from wrong, good from bad. Ethics can give real and practical guidance to our lives. The ethical principles that nurses must adhere to are the principles of justice, beneficence, nonmaleficence, accountability and fidelity.
